Behind the scenes
This week’s behind-the-scenes photo was taken in Arizona! If you’ve been keeping up with the blog, then you already know I’m currently on my graduation trip. During this trip, I’ve been expanding creatively and stepping outside of my comfort zone by trying something new landscape photography.
I had the opportunity to capture some incredible views of the Painted Desert, Blue Mesa, and several other beautiful Arizona locations. These photos will soon be published and available for purchase. They’ll make great statement pieces for your home, especially if you’re a fan of mountains, desert scenery, and nature-inspired artwork.
This is my first real step into creating and sharing landscape photography, and I’m excited for you all to see what I’ve been working on. Be on the lookout the full collection will be posted soon along with a purchase link!

how i Began my journey
For those who may not already know, I graduated on May 22nd last Friday!
Reaching this milestone made me reflect on where my photography journey first began, especially since this year officially marks four years of me pursuing photography.
I first got into photography during my freshman year while working with the high school yearbook program. Honestly, I wasn’t taught much about photography in that class, but I became deeply interested in learning it for myself. I spent countless hours behind a computer, using my cell phone, reading books, watching tutorials, researching techniques, and teaching myself everything I could about cameras, editing, lighting, and composition.
Whenever I had access to a camera through yearbook, I practiced nonstop learning settings, experimenting, making mistakes, and figuring things out on my own. Even though I had the passion and was putting in the work, I was often told that my work wasn’t good enough or that I couldn’t create the kinds of photos they were looking for. I faced criticism and discouragement many times, despite having to teach myself from the ground up.
But I kept going.
Fast forward a few years I stepped away from the program during the middle of my junior year and decided to focus on building something outside of school. What started as self-teaching and trial-and-error slowly turned into a real business. Today, I have a full photography website, I’m capturing moments one frame at a time, receiving awards for my work, and even completed a photography internship about 30 minutes from my hometown.
Looking back, that experience taught me so much personally. It reminded me that growth doesn’t always come from people believing in you sometimes it comes from believing in yourself when nobody else does.
So if you’re currently chasing a dream and someone is telling you that you can’t do it, keep going anyway. Don’t let someone else’s words stop you from becoming who you’re capable of being.
I’m incredibly thankful that I didn’t quit, even during the moments when people doubted me. This is only the beginning, and I’m excited to continue growing, creating, and proving to myself how far passion and persistence can take you.
Tips & Tricks
Use the Rule of Thirds for Better Composition
Instead of placing your subject directly in the center of every photo, imagine your screen divided into a 3x3 grid. Place your subject along those lines or where the lines intersect. This creates more balanced, eye-catching images and helps your photos feel more natural and professional.
Capture Candid Moments, Not Just Poses
Some of the best photos happen in between poses. Encourage people to laugh, talk, walk, or interact naturally instead of standing stiffly. Genuine emotion and real reactions make photos feel more meaningful and memorable.
